Even with all of the advances in technology and awareness of the environment, the typical office still has plenty of opportunities for going green. Many\u00a0are easy to implement and will make a big difference in promoting your company\u2019s sustainability over time.<\/p>\n

Here are some green office tips for\u00a02020!<\/p>\n

  1. Set Up Recycling Programs and Bins – <\/strong>Place a recycling center prominently in your office. If a set of recycling containers will take up too much real estate, put a paper recycling bin near your printers, and a general recycling box in the staff break room. Empty them regularly and organize bottle and can returns.\u00a0Find a place near you\u00a0to recycle used\u00a0batteries<\/a> and cellphones. Recycle your used printer cartridges<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Lose the Disposables – <\/strong>Encourage your staff to bring mugs from home. Use glasses, dishes, and cutlery rather than disposables. Take it one step further and get a coffee maker that doesn’t require paper filters.<\/li>\n
  3. Clean Green! – <\/strong>Make sure your office is cleaned with environmentally friendly green cleaning products. They are healthier for your employees and the environment and work just as well as chemical alternatives.<\/li>\n
  4. Go Paperless – <\/strong>Monitor printing and print documents only when necessary. Consider making interoffice communications digital. Rather than printing meeting notes use overhead projectors or mobile devices\u00a0to display meeting agendas.<\/li>\n
  5. Green Up the Office Supplies – <\/strong>Find products made from post-consumer content. Recycle used office supplies when possible.<\/li>\n
  6. Consider a Multifunction Printer – <\/strong>Multifunction printers<\/a> are energy efficient, and can copy, print, scan, and fax meaning fewer machines and less energy used.<\/li>\n
  7. Turn it Off! – <\/strong>Turn off computers, printers and other office machines at the end of the day. Make sure computers go into standby when idle for extended periods. When you upgrade to more energy-efficient models, donate old equipment to a charity or a non-profit, or take them to a recycling facility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
